The problem is, that there is a huge gap between lvl 36 and lvl 50. Plus it makes them harder to get, because most of these drop off rare mobs. I think Blizz should really put a new superior shadow dmg wand into the game maybe at lvl 42 as a quest reward if not more, cause priests already suffer a lot soloing compared to other classes. Mar 16, 2019 EDIT: I did a bit of extra reading, and it seems that (depending on the way that Blizzard Classic servers will handle it) you may need to shoot your wand once to give the 'full' 6 seconds before. This is a good list. The wands between 1 and 1.1 dps/level are relatively unexceptional for their level and can be replaced by any rare wand of similar level. But the ones with much better ratios Lesser Magic Wand, Greater Magic Wand, Gravestone Scepter, and Wand of Biting Cold are worth going out of your way to get. The blue wand you get in BFD is good enough to reach 41. At 41 you can buy Blackbone Wand for 4 gold from a vendor. Im at lvl 30 on my priest and i have used wands for more than 70-80% of my total dmg up to this point im sure the 5 talent points into wands are the best points i ever spent lol. Priest wanding is super OP. Maybe thats why theres not alot of them between 25-40 wanding doesnt. This build has you go Shadow + Disc which offers more sustain but slightly less damage than a Shadow Holy hybrid Pre 40. You will follow this hybrid build until 40 or 45 if you want to keep Wand Spec then respec to get Shadowform. Use this Build to Lvl 40 then respec Start into Discipline Tree: 5/5 Wand Specialization Proceed into Shadow Tree.

In the RPG
This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.
The shadow energy (aka Shadow Plane) is not limited to a single plane; it is instead an integral part of every aspect of the universe, woven into every plane. Thus, spells that call upon this energy, such as shadow conjuration, draw upon local sources rather than reaching to another plane. Positive energy remains associated with the energies possessed by living beings, and negative energy with the motive forces of death and the undead. Magical weapons that have effects wielding this energy draw upon energy bound into their own material, freed by enchantment.[18] 'Shadow' is spell type common to many items and spells created by the Shadow Council and other such nefarious organizations.[19] The arcane and shadow magic appear to be tied together.[20] Shadow appears to be split into subcategories or is synonymous with 'Darkness', 'Negative', 'Death', 'Destruction', 'Chaotic', 'Evil', and 'Fel'. It is a damage type often found as a bonus type damage (enchantment or enhancement). In one example it's also a sub-school of the magic school of Illusion (illusions composed of a quasi-real, tangible shadow material with shadow bonuses, ex. Storm, Earth and Fire).[21] Spells of shadow may derive their power from actual shadows & darkness.[22]
